Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how WiredEye (“the App”) handles information. The App is developed and provided by Muratcan Gözüm (“I”, “me”, “my”).

Summary

• Network monitoring data is processed on your device. Your monitoring logs (traffic metadata, hostnames, per-app statistics) are never uploaded to my servers and are not shared with third parties.
• I do not sell your personal data.
• The version of the App distributed on Google Play includes advertising (Google AdMob), analytics and crash reporting (Firebase), optional Google sign-in, and an optional premium subscription. These services are described below.
• If you contact support by email, I receive your email address, message content, and any attachments you send.
• Core monitoring features rely on Android platform capabilities such as VpnService, app/package visibility, and optional runtime permissions (notifications, location for Wi-Fi scanning, usage access).

Information the App processes on-device

Depending on the features you use, the App may process and display monitoring-related information locally on your device, including:

• App/package identifiers related to network usage
• Installed app visibility information needed to map observed traffic to apps on the device
• Network endpoints and metadata, such as IP/host, ports, protocol, DNS queries, and timestamps
• Traffic volume statistics, such as bytes, throughput, and packet rate
• Wi-Fi scan results (nearby network names, signal information) when you use the Wi-Fi scanning feature
• Clipboard events detected while the App is in the foreground, when you enable the Clipboard Guard feature
• Permissions granted to installed apps, when you use the Permission Audit feature
• Filters, searches, and view preferences you enter inside the App

This monitoring data stays on your device. Older monitoring records are automatically purged after a limited retention period, and you can remove locally stored data at any time (see “Data retention”).

How platform permissions and Android features are used

VPN-based monitoring

Monitoring features use Android’s VpnService to create a local monitoring tunnel on the device so the App can inspect and present network metadata for the features you enable. The tunnel is local: your traffic is not routed through any remote VPN server. Monitoring starts only after you explicitly enable it and approve the Android VPN consent dialog, and it runs as a visible foreground service that you can stop at any time from the App or the notification.

App/package visibility

To provide app-level monitoring context, WiredEye may inspect package visibility on your device to determine which installed apps correspond to observed network activity. This information is used to power user-facing monitoring features inside the App, such as showing app-related traffic context, and is not used for advertising.

Location and nearby Wi-Fi devices

The Wi-Fi scanning feature requires location permission (and, on Android 13+, the NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES permission) because Android requires them to read Wi-Fi scan results. Location data is used only to enable Wi-Fi scanning on-device; the App does not track your location and does not upload your location or Wi-Fi scan results to my servers.

Usage access

If you grant the optional usage access permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS), the App uses it to improve attribution of network activity to apps and to show app usage context. This information is processed on-device only.

Notifications

Notification permission is used to show the monitoring foreground-service notification and related status information. You can revoke it in system settings.

Clipboard Guard

If you enable Clipboard Guard, the App observes clipboard changes while the App is in the foreground in order to warn you about, and optionally auto-clear, sensitive clipboard content. Clipboard contents are processed on-device only and are never transmitted off your device.

Optional account (Google sign-in)

You may optionally sign in with your Google account. Sign-in is handled through Google and Firebase Authentication. When you sign in, I receive basic account information such as your name, email address, and profile picture, which is used to identify your account within the App. Signing in is not required to use the core monitoring features. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see “Data deletion requests”).

Advertising

The Google Play version of the App shows ads (banner, native, and optional rewarded ads) served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process device information such as your advertising ID, IP address, and coarse device data to serve and measure ads, in accordance with Google’s policies.

• Consent: where required (for example in the EEA/UK), a consent form provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) is shown before personalized ads are requested. You can change your choice later from the privacy options entry inside the App’s settings, where available.
• Advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
• Premium: the premium subscription removes ads.
• Your monitoring logs are not shared with AdMob or any other ad network and are not used for ad targeting.

Analytics and crash reporting

The Google Play version of the App uses Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate feature usage (for example, which screens are used) and Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports (device model, OS version, crash stack traces). This data helps me improve stability and the product. It does not include your monitoring logs or the content of your network traffic.

Purchases and subscriptions

The App offers an optional premium subscription. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing, and subscription entitlements are managed through RevenueCat. I do not receive or store your payment card details; payment is handled by Google Play. RevenueCat processes purchase and entitlement information (such as purchase tokens and an app-scoped identifier) to validate and manage your subscription.

Third-party services

The Google Play version of the App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform — Google Privacy Policy, AdMob data practices
• Firebase (Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics) — Firebase Privacy and Security
• Google Play services (billing, in-app review, in-app updates) — Google Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat (subscription management) — RevenueCat Privacy Policy

These services do not receive your monitoring logs. An open-source build variant of the App without ads, analytics, or Firebase may also be available; the sections above about advertising, analytics, and sign-in do not apply to that variant.

Information I collect

Support emails. If you choose to contact support, I receive:

• Your email address
• The content of your email
• Any attachments you choose to send

Information sharing

I do not sell personal data. I do not share your monitoring logs with third parties for advertising or marketing. Third-party service providers listed above process data on my behalf or as independent controllers as described in their policies. Beyond that, I may disclose information only when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to legal requests, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or operate and secure the App.

Data retention

• Monitoring data is processed and stored locally on your device. Stored monitoring records are automatically purged after a limited retention period (currently about 31 days), and remain on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
• Locally stored App data can be cleared from within the App or by uninstalling the App, subject to normal Android behavior.
• Account information (if you sign in) is retained until you delete your account or request deletion.
• Analytics, crash, and advertising data are retained according to the respective third-party providers’ retention policies.
• Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot, and maintain support records, and are deleted when no longer needed.

Your choices

• You can start and stop VPN-based monitoring at any time; monitoring never runs without your explicit action.
• You can choose whether to sign in; core monitoring features work without an account.
• You can revoke Android runtime permissions such as notifications, location, and usage access through your device settings. Features that depend on a revoked permission may become unavailable.
• Where a consent form applies, you can review or withdraw your ad-related consent from the privacy options entry in the App’s settings, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
• You can manage or cancel the premium subscription at any time through Google Play.
• You can choose whether to contact support by email.

Data deletion requests

You can request deletion of your account and associated data, support emails, or other personal data that I control by emailing gozummuratcan@gmail.com. Monitoring data stored on your device can be deleted directly by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App. I may retain limited information where required by law, for security purposes, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Security

I use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information I handle, and the App stores its local preferences using encrypted storage. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Children’s privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL and will include a new effective date.
